Web Presence / Static Site
This is the most basic site consisting of a handful of pages. It gives your organisation a presence on the web. You can think of it as an online brochure.
Although this is the most basic type of site it can still be very useful. There are many free directories on the web that may already be listing your organisation but with no web link because you don't have a web site.
You can put your web address on all your literature e.g. business cards, invoices, adverts etc which then allows you to market your organisation to potential customers.
Imagine you run a small building firm. People always say its difficult to find a good builder. By directing potential clients to your web site you can showcase examples of your previous work. You could show before and after pictures and testimonial quotes from satisfied customers. There are numerous possibilities.
So even a small web site can ramp up the effect of you traditional ways of attracting new business.
eCommerce
This is a web site that gives the user the ability to order products or services and pay online. The site owner / administrator also has the ability to add and modify the products displayed on their site.
CMS - Content Management System
As with an eCommerce site, if the content you want to show on your site is constantly changing you don't want to be paying a web developer to be making constant changes. This is where a CMS comes into its own. The site owner can log in to a secure administration area of their site and add / modify / delete content, menus, pictures etc. No programming knowledge is required.
This type of site is ideal for estate agents, car dealers, clubs etc.
